HB 20 would have exempted all health insurance plans offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia or any locality in the Commonwealth, or any agency, department, division, or institution of the Commonwealth from any requirement that those plans include coverage for FDA-approved contraception methods, sterilization procedures, or abortifacient drugs or devices.

The bill contains legislative findings regarding Virginia citizens’ right to religious freedom and the failure of Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court to protect Virginians’ right of conscience.

STATUS

Identical to HB 1417, which failed to pass in 2013.
