Texas Bill Relating to Prohibited Acts for a Physician or Applicant of a Medical License (HB 47)
This law was last updated on Aug 29, 2019
HB 47 would prohibit a physician or applicant of a medical license from performing an abortion unless:
- it is necessary to avert the pregnant person’s death or serious physical injury;
- the abortion is to remove an ectopic pregnancy; or
- in the case of multiple “unborn children,” it is necessary to ensure that at least one “unborn child” is born alive and healthy.
A physician who violates this provision would have their medical license revoked.
Identical to HB 86, which failed to pass during the 2017 legislative session.
