HR 609 condemns the practice of selectively aborting fetuses with Down syndrome.

The resolutions suggests that some pregnant people may “feel pressure from their doctor or others to abort.”

Instead, the resolution recommends resources should instead be used to improve the lives of children with Down syndrome, such as developing treatments and developing effective behavioral and educational programs.
