HB 1051 states that private employers who offer individual or group health insurance plans may not provide coverage for contraceptive methods, sterilization procedures, or abortifacient drugs or devices unless the subscriber or enrollee in the policy requests such coverage.

The purpose of this bill would have been to “protect Pennsylvania employers from having to provide coverage for birth control, early abortion pills and sterilization operations if against their conscience.”

STATUS

Died in the Health Committee. This bill was part of a package of bills that included HB 1049 and HB 1050.
