HB 1050 would have required insurers offering an insurance plan, including individual or group plans, to offer duplicate policies that would have been identical in all respects with the exception that the duplicate policies would not have provided coverage for contraceptive methods, sterilization procedures, or abortifacient drugs or devices.

The purpose of the bill would have been to “protect Pennsylvanians from having to purchase health insurance which covers birth control, early abortion pills and sterilization operations if against their conscience.”

STATUS

Died in Committee. This bill was part of a package of bills that included HB 1049 and HB 1051.
