HB 1049 would have permitted health insurance plans for public employees to refuse to provide coverage for contraceptive methods, sterilization procedures, or abortifacient drugs or devices.

This bill states that Pennsylvania cannot be mandated by the federal government to include coverage for contraception, abortion pills, or sterilization in health insurance policies offered by Pennsylvania to employees or beneficiaries.

STATUS

Died in the Health Committee. This bill was part of a package of bills that included HB 1050 and HB 1051.
