HB 2000 would allow any licensed and ordained member of the clergy who is authorized to solemnize marriages under Missouri law to refuse to solemnize a marriage if the solemnization of such marriage is contrary to the religious beliefs or sincerely held moral convictions of such person.

The First Amendment already covers the right of religious organizations to refuse to perform marriages that conflict with their religious beliefs.

STATUS

Similar to HB 2040 and HB 2730.
