SCR 1606 is a concurrent resolution condemning the enactment of the Reproductive Health Act by the state of New York, because it “violates the life and well-being of a woman and her unborn child.”

The resolution states the following:

That the state of Kansas hereby condemns the Reproductive Health Act of New York and all similar laws in other states as violating the fundamental principles and values of the state of Kansas and of this nation. We call on legislators and executive officials of New York to reinstitute protections for women and unborn children in their state. Further, we call on legislators and executive officials in all fifty states to ascribe inherent value to all human life and reject any legislation like the Reproductive Health Act that would incite abuse and violence toward women and their unborn children.

The resolution is in response to the state of New York enacting the “Reproductive Health Act,” which removed abortion from the state’s criminal code and codified Roe v. Wade into New York State law.
