Susy Chávez Herrera
Susy Chávez Herrera is a reproductive justice advocate and communications director at California Latinas for Reproductive Justice. As a Los Angeles native and daughter of immigrants, she is deeply interested in understanding social-justice issues through a racial and gender lens on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. She has spent time organizing, sharing, listening, being inspired and learning from the experiences of the women on both sides of the border. In her spare time, she makes art, grows food, rides her bike, and visits the desert. She holds a bachelor’s degree in studio arts from Loyola Marymount University and a master’s in anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin. She is also a Ms. Foundation Public Fellow with the Op-Ed Project.
