Rewire has
been awarded a 2009 bronze Web Health Award for media and publishing — thanks in no small part to the great support we receive from our wonderful community of readers.

The
Web Health Awards recognize the best Web-based health-related content for
consumers and professionals and confer a "seal of quality on electronic health
information."  The awards are organized
by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for
consumer health programs and materials.

"We
are delighted to receive this award," said Amie Newman, Managing Editor.  "Rewire was founded in 2006 and
since that time has become a widely recognized and respected source of news and
commentary on sexual and reproductive health and rights internationally.  This award helps propel us on our path of
continued growth over the next 3 years."

RH
Reality Check more than doubled the number of unique visitors each week between
March 2008 and 2009, and is increasingly referenced as a source in both
mainstream and in new media.  Since going
live in 2006, Rewire also has been honored for political reporting by
the 12th Annual Webby Awards (2008), and in 2007 for Excellence in
Population Reporting by the Population Institute.

"We
will continue building on our tradition of excellence," said Newman, "to ensure
that sexual and reproductive health debates are informed by evidence and human
rights concerns, not ideology."

We’re excited to share this award with the Rewire community.
