Wayne Shields

Association of Reproductive Health Professionals

Wayne C. Shields is president and CEO of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP), where he has guided the development and implementation of health education initiatives, scientific programs, and policy activities since 1991. He has been a health care, education, and communications professional for 28 years, directing education, training, and communications efforts for non-profit, academic, and for-profit organizations. He serves on the editorial boards of Contraceptive Technology Update and Clinical Proceedings in Reproductive Health, and contributes to an editorial column and quarterly review of controversies in reproductive health for Contraception: An International Reproductive Health Journal. He also serves on the board of the National Cervical Cancer Coalition, and on the advisory board of the American Society for Emergency Contraception. Prior to joining ARHP, he developed educational curricula for graduate programs in science, technology, and international studies at The George Washington University (GW). He received his undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies and English Literature from Old Dominion University and studied organizational behavior and management at GW’s graduate program in management sciences.

Rivka Gordon is the director of strategic initiatives for the Association of Reproductive Professionals leading ARHP's Values Project, initiatives that intersect reproductive and environmental health and adovcacy and projects that promote professional advocacy to expand reproductive health curricula. Prior to joining ARHP, Rivka worked as the director of Ipas' United States Program where she developed a national technical assistance and mentoring program to incorporate outpatient managment of abortion and miscarriage into US hospitals. She serves on several national advisory boards including the UCSF ANSIRH Program's Advances in Primary Care Initiative and the Advanced Practice Clinician Working Group convened by PPFA. Rivka received a BA in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh, her Women’s Health Care Specialist certificate from UCLA Medical School and a Bachelors and Masters of Health Sciences from the Physician Associate Program at Duke University.
