Get It Right – Body Positivity, Trans Identity, and Queerness in Comics

Would you believe that one of the most fun and inclusive comics on the market is based on the 1980s toy line “Jem and the Holograms?” After hearing from its creators, you might.

In the latest episode of Get It Right, Jem creators Kelly Thompson and Sophie Campbell speak to Black Girl Nerds founder Jamie Broadnax about the process of creating an inclusive comic, the benefits and risks of putting your personal experiences into your work, and whether Jem exists in a happier parallel universe to one in which Donald Trump could be elected.
