SB 1027 would require a minor who has obtained judicial bypass to obtain an abortion without parental consent to receive verbal explanations of sonogram images prior to an abortion.

Current state law requires a physician performing an abortion to first perform a sonogram and provide a verbal explanation of the images. The law allows an exception for pregnant patients who are victims of sexual assault or incest, and minors who have obtained judicial bypass. The bill would eliminate the exception for minors who have obtained judicial bypass.
