SB 2227 would require the state capitol commission to develop and implement a plan for the commissioning of the “Tennessee Monument to Unborn Children,” to be located on the capital grounds.

Non-state sources would be required to be used to defray all costs relating to the development and implementation of the plan, the design of the memorial, and any construction or other related costs associated with the placement of the memorial on the capitol grounds.

The bill would prohibit the use of state funds for purposes of implementing this provision.
