SR 174 condemns the practice of selectively aborting fetuses with Down syndrome, while equating such decisions with the practice of eugenics.

The resolution states:

Purposefully encouraging abortion and using other sterilization techniques to rid society of a class of individuals are heinous, immoral actions, essentially practicing eugenics.

The resolution further states that parents should not feel “pressured into aborting their children.”
