LB 300 would have required the Department of Health and Human Services to develop and maintain an internet webpage to provide information for women seeking abortion services.  LB 300 states that the webpage would be required to include a link to the website of The Endowment for Human Development, which contains video of ultrasound images and a fetus at two-week gestational increments.

The bill would also have required health-care facilities that provide abortions and have a website to include a direct link to the website of the Department of Health and Human Services.  The link would have read:

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services maintains a web page containing objective, nonjudgemental, scientifically accurate information about the development of the unborn child, as well as a link to videos of ultrasound images of the unborn child at various stages of development.  The webpage also has information on alternatives to abortion and a comprehensive list on where to obtain and ultrasound free of charge.  The webpage can be reached by clicking here.

LB 300 was authored by Nebraska Right to Life, an arm of the National Right to Life Committee.

STATUS

LB 300 was introduced in 2013 and carried over to 2014. It was indefinitely postponed on April 17, 2014.
