HB 4190 belongs to a package of bills (along with HB 4188 and HB 4189) that permit adoption agencies to refuse service to same-sex or unmarried couples if that goes against their religious beliefs.

HB 4190 amends the Social Welfare Act to prohibit the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) from taking an adverse action against a child placing agency that declined to provide services that would conflict with, or to provide services under circumstances that would conflict with, its sincerely held religious beliefs.

STATUS

The bill was passed along with HB 4188 and HB 4189.

The trio of laws went into effect on September 9, 2015.
