Kentucky Bill Defining ‘Matrimony’ (HB 571)
This law was last updated on Jul 19, 2016
HB 571 would, upon voter approval, amend the state’s constitution to declare, “only a matrimony between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a matrimony in Kentucky.”
This bill is the short version of HB 572, a 454-page bill defining matrimony and replacing it with ‘marriage’ throughout Kentucky law so only opposite-sex couples would receive the benefits and privileges associated with marriage.
Both bills failed.
