HB 2764 would exclude religious facilities from the definition of “place of public accommodation” to exempt those facilities from the law regarding discrimination in public accommodations.

This law would grant any facility owned or operated by a religious organization and used for religious purposes license to discriminate against LGBTQ people.

HB 2764  goes further to state that no individual, sole proprietor, or small business shall be required to:

  • provide goods or services that support or promote any type of wedding ceremony or civil union; or
  • provide housing or lodging to any couple,

if doing so would violate an individual’s sincerely held religious beliefs.
