Shonali Shome, a human rights lawyer, is the Legal and Gender Advisor for AIDS-Free World. Her work over the past few years has focused on sexual violence, women and HIV/AIDS, and on disability rights in sub-Saharan Africa. She is a co-author of AIDS-Free World’s report, Electing to Rape: Sexual Terror in Mugabe’s Zimbabwe. In addition to her international work, she currently serves on the board of Women Organized to Respond to Life-threatening Disease (WORLD), an HIV/AIDS organization based in Oakland, California.
