Leila Hessini and Anu Kumar

Leila Hessini is director of Community Engagement and Mobilization at Ipas
and board chair of the Global Fund for Women. Leila has worked to oppose
the control and exploitation of women¹s bodies through sexuality,
reproduction and labor for 20 years. She has lived and worked extensively
with women¹s networkscommunity-based organizations in Europe, Africa and the
United States. She serves on the boards of the Women¹s Global Network for
Reproductive Rights and the SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice
Coalition and is Chair of the Global Fund for Women board.

Anu Kumar is Executive Vice President for Ipas, an international women’s reproductive health and rights organization based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She holds masters degrees in public health and anthropology, and received her doctorate in anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining Ipas, Dr. Kumar spent worked at the World Health Organization in the Reproductive Health Research Division, and spent seven years at the Macarthur Foundation in their Population and Reproductive Health Division.
