Kenya Martin

Kenya Martin is a mom, reproductive justice activist, patient advocate, and an abortion storyteller with We Testify, a program of the National Network of Abortion Funds, where she works as a communications program coordinator. After becoming a clinic counselor at her local abortion clinic, Kenya realized how impactful sharing her abortion experiences particularly with people of color can be in shifting the narrative. As someone who has been both a patient and clinic worker, Kenya has a unique perspective and believes that people who have abortions should remain at the center of all conversations surrounding abortion access. Kenya has been a voice for people who’ve had multiple abortions and is dedicated to eliminating stigma completely. She also serves as a board member of the Abortion Care Network.

Ain’t I an Abortion Storyteller?

Sojourner Truth’s 1851 speech came to mind as I read recent articles highlighting the history of abortion storytelling while only citing the contributions of white women. We Testify storytellers of color have been talking about our multiple abortion experiences for years to try and change the stigma surrounding it.
