Autumn Sandeen

Autumn Sandeen is a retired, disabled, U.S. Navy Persian Gulf War Navy veteran who served as a Petty Officer between 1980 and 2000, and this year was the first transgender military retiree to publicly document changing her gender with the Department of Defense. Autumn was the first national transgender blogger at Pam’s House Blend, and currently writes the weekly Trans Progressive column at San Diego’s LGBT Weekly. And, twice in 2010 with a half a dozen fellow uniformed LGBT veterans, Autumn is perhaps best known in LGBT community for handcuffing herself to the White House fence for repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”
