In My Voice, My Choice, Brittany Mostiller and illustrator Lilly Taing tell the story of Mostiller’s decision to have an abortion as a struggling mother of three living on the South Side of Chicago. The abortion cost $900—equal to Mostiller’s monthly pay at the grocery story where she worked part-time. That experience introduced Mostiller to the work of abortion funds and the concept of reproductive justice—which advocates that all people should have the right to decide whether and when to become parents. As it turned out, ending a pregnancy began a new chapter for Mostiller, who now directs the Chicago Abortion Fund. My Voice, My Choice is part of the Comics for Choice anthology, a cartoon collection and fundraiser that benefits the National Network of Abortion Funds.
