They Are Coming for Your Birth Control: Ladies, Are You an Instrument of Sorrow?

You really want to make us turn into "instruments of sorrow?" Try coming for our birth control.

Note: Think that anti-choice politicians and activists aren’t trying to outlaw contraception?  Think again.  Follow along in an ongoing series that proves beyond a doubt that they really are coming for your birth control.

Part of the anti-birth control mentality requires women to be seen as nothing but vessels—created to store and bring forth life, and without that, they have lost their own true nature.

Birth control, then, exists for one sole purpose, denying vessels of their proper functions. No wonder we women who aren’t interested in getting pregnant or will no longer bear children are so, so, SO unhappy.

From the always lovely (and I assume unhappy, since she is past childbearing years and hence no longer capable of true “womanhood”) Judie Brown of American Life League.

American perspectives on sexual morality these days are so far off the mark it boggles the mind. Women demand “reproductive rights,” and their male counterparts wholeheartedly concur because sexual gratification without responsibility is the number one goal for many—married or single. But like it or not, women are the ones who experience failed birth control resulting in what is termed “unwanted” pregnancy. Women are the ones choosing to kill their preborn babies. Women are the ones who suffer depression, sorrow, and even death from the aftereffects of contraception and abortion and, dare I say it, women are the ones contracting sexually transmitted diseases because the pill doesn’t protect them from such infections.

In other words, birth control is a failed experiment that is nonetheless commonplace. Apparently when it comes to sex, ignorance is bliss. This is why those of us who realize this fact are working to sound the alarm. For, as long as the contraceptive mentality flourishes, abortion will remain unscathed.

Are you felling “scathed” by the ability to use birth control in order to have sex without “responsibility?” How exactly is nine months of pregnancy, not to mention 18 years of care or longer, supposed to be the end result of each sexual encounter not seen as maybe a little too much “responsibility” for having sexual intercourse, anyway?

Judie Brown may have been holding these views since before birth control was legal (No, that’s not an old lady joke. Wait, yes it is.) However, there is a vocal minority in the Catholic church determined to “unsettle” this settled issue. Some, such as Human Life International, are even arguing that birth control itself is as much of a “threat” to marriage as is the church’s favorite bogeyman, gay marriage.

“Contraception’s destruction of the integrity of the marital act—as unitive and procreative—has dire consequences for society and for our souls,” writes Fr. Boquet in a recent letter to HLI supporters.

“Contraception, in other words, is a rejection of God’s view of reality,” he said. “It is a wedge driven into the most intimate sphere of communion known to man outside of the Holy Sacrament of the Mass. It is a degrading poison that withers life and love both in marriage and in society.”

Most women of reproductive age would prefer to have the choice to have sex without every drop of sperm being spilled threatening a potential pregnancy. You really want to make us turn into “instruments of sorrow?” Try coming for our birth control.
