Arizona House Passes 20-Week Gestational Abortion Ban

Robin Marty

The bill, which bans abortions at 20 weeks gestation versus 20 weeks post-fertilization, will now go to the governor for signature.

The Arizona House has passed the their omnibus anti-abortion law, which among other restrictions bans abortion at the earliest point in pregnancy of any state in the country.  The bill also will require women seeking abortions to view a state website that will show fetal development, and provide alternatives to abortion and information about child support.

The bill passed 37 to 22, and will now go to Governor Jan Brewer for signature or veto.
