“Maybe in cases of rape or incest…”, Says GOP Candidate Dino Rossi

Amie Newman

Washington State Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, Dino Rossi, clarifies his extreme anti-choice position for voters, once and for all.

Dino Rossi is the GOP candidate for U.S. Senate in Washington State, running against incumbent Democrat Patty Murray. Rossi was deemed not anti-choice enough when running against fellow Republican (and Tea Party favorite) Clint Didier for the Republican nomination. However, in this clip from Seattle’s Fox News station last week, it’s hard to fathom how much more oppositional Rossi can get when it comes to women’s and girls’ health access. Trying to explain away his relative silence on the abortion issue, which Washington’s Governor Gregoire made no bones about clearing up at a press conference last week, Rossi comes out swinging.

In this clip, starting around the 3:40 mark, Rossi actually says that women who are the victims of rape or incest should only “maybe” be able to access abortion care. If this isn’t being anti-choice enough for the Republicans, what is?
