Bartoshevich: Pro-Choice Wisconsin Nurse in McCain Ad Thinks He Won’t Overturn Roe

Scott Swenson

The pro-choice former Clinton delegate in the new McCain ad encouraging Democrats to support McCain admits she thought he didn't want to overturn Roe v. Wade at a GOP sponsored presser. Oops!

Gotta love Rachel Maddow, she is reporting tonight on MSNBC, the following:

Rachel Maddow: There is an interesting point to that and Gene you raised this idea of how stupendously strange it would be for Sen. Clinton’s pro-choice supporters to instead support John McCain who has pledged to overturn Roe v. Wade. So there is a Hillary Clinton delegate who is in the new John McCain ad who explains why she is supporting John McCain, and encourages other Democrats to do the same. At a press conference in Denver, which the Republican Party organized, that nurse from Wisconsin and former Hillary Clinton delegate, was asked, ‘you describe yourself as a pro-choice Democrat, how could support McCain on the choice issue?’ and she said ‘Well as far as I understand it John McCain is against overturning Roe v. Wade.’

Nora O’Donnell: What?

Rachel Maddow: Right, which he’s not. Which is not at all his position which implies that for Democrats to support John McCain they have to have no idea what John McCain stands for?

Sex. Abortion. Parenthood. Power.

Nora O’Donnell: Well isn’t that embarassing then that the woman in the McCain ad doesn’t even know what McCain stands for?

Here is the now discredited ad featuring Debra Bartoshevich, with more links to follow as this story develops this post will be updated.

Really, the only update needed is to compare the values on display above in this post, with progressive values on display tonight.
